Leonard M. Moss, M.D.
Medical Director at Valley Oximetry Sleep Disorders Center (Biltmore)

Dr. Moss is uniquely qualified to provide outstanding sleep care. But it’s not just because he’s board certified, or because he has been a sleep specialist for 10 years. Dr. Moss is also a sleep disorder patient. His own sleep difficulties, in fact, motivated him to study sleep medicine and eventually to redirect his focus as a physician from pulmonary care to sleep care. His first-hand experience with a sleep disorder also better equips him to work alongside patients during evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment.

Treating adult and pediatric patients, Dr. Moss has expertise in a broad spectrum of sleep related disorders, including sleep apnea, insomnia, parasomnias, and excessive daytime sleepiness.

After earning his medical degree from the University of Kansas, Kansas City, Dr. Moss completed his residency in internal medicine at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, and his pulmonary fellowship at Creighton Medical School. He has been practicing medicine since 1980, and became a board certified sleep medicine specialist in 2005.

Dr. Moss believes that the role of sleep, as part of our overall good health and ability to function to our full potential, is often underestimated. “Sleep plays a significant role in our quality of life,” he says. “And most of us are affected by a sleep-related issue at some time in our life”

He also encourages extensive input from his patients. “Patients are not only the best resource I have for determining their course of treatment, but they also provide valuable contributions to medical science, and the treatment of others as well.”
